Laser Care FAQs

Vascular/Thread Vein Treatment

Q: How does the Vascular/Thread Vein Treatment Work?

A: The visible Pulsed Light is guided via the glass prism to the treatment area. Blood contains haemoglobin that absorbs the light, converting it into heat. This heat destroys the protein in the wall of the thread vein. As a result, the veins fade dramatically after each treatment. A generous layer of gel is applied to the skin prior to treatment, comforting the skin and also magnifying the veins for the Pulsed Light to be most effective. Aswell as thread veins, High Colouring is also targeted by the light. Skin is left flawless after the required amount of treatments.

Q: Can all Thread Veins be Treated?

A: Thread veins on all body sites can be treated. The most common areas being face, chest and legs. Veins on the legs need to be superficial, deeper veins are not suitable. As the treatment relies on the absorption of the light by the haemoglobin in the blood, the most effective results are seen with light skin.

 Q: Does it hurt?

A: The Vascular/thread Vein Treatment is virtually painless. It is a heat treatment, therefore your skin will feel warm afterwards, for a maximum of an hour. Clients avail of a cold compress in the relaxing room after their treatment.

Q: Do I need to take any special precautions before and after treatment?

A: Pale skin benefits most from the Vascular treatment, therefore sun exposure leading upto the treatment is not advisable.

Post-treatment Care is discussed in-depth with all clients. We recommend you use an SPF (Sun Protective Factor) 30 for the weeks after treatment.

Q: How many treatments are recommended?

A: The number of treatments needed depends on the area and the severity of the thread veins. Usually 1-4 treatments are necessary. The time between treatments is one month.
